4 Protein Packed Desserts (that don’t suck!)

Give me some love!

Eat the Treat!

While I LOVE baking and sweets, I try not to indulge TOO often when it comes to sugary treats. However, these protein packed dessert options allow you to have your cake and eat it too!

Since I started lifting weights, I’ve really been trying to get that protein. However, hitting my goal isn’t always easy. So, I’ve been experimenting with protein desserts and to be honest… most of the recipes I’ve tried… suck. Hahaha. I’m just NOT the biggest fan of protein powder but I’m working to find ways that make it enjoyable for me to eat. I’ve come up with the recipes below that all have substantial protein power AND actually taste good!

Protein Mug Cakes

I am a late adopter when it comes to these bad boys but late is better than never!

All you need is a scoop of whey, 1-2 egg whites (more egg gives it an almost custardy texture and taste) a packet of splenda, a teaspoon of sugar (optional but I like it better with a little sugar!) 1/4 teaspoon baking powder and 1-2 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce. Make sure to REALLY spray your mug with Pam to avoid a sticky mess. Combine all ingredients, mix, microwave for 60-90 seconds. Enjoy! You can experiment with different flavors of protein powder. Chocolate with chocolate chips is also good!

I topped it off with a little Hershey syrup and strawberries for maximum yum!

Protein Milkshake

Because no list of protein desserts can be complete without a good shake! I got bored with plain ole shakes, so instead I made a milkshake. 1 scoop whey, 1 cup milk, 1 cup Breyer’s carb smart ice cream. Blend. Experiment with your ratios to make it thicker (or not) Omg it’s so good!

Protein Cheesecake

This one doesn’t use protein powder but it is full of protein nonetheless. Combine one cup plain Greek yogurt and one tablespoon sugar free jello cheesecake powder. Mix. I like to crumble a Graham cracker on top and serve with strawberries. This is my current favorite.

Protein Pudding

It just doesn’t get easier than this. Mix one scoop protein powder with one cup milk and one half package sugar free instant pudding mix. Let sit in fridge for at least an hour. Experiment with flavors. My favorite is vanilla-butterscotch. 🙂

The Best Whey

My most favorite ever whey is Cellucor Molten Chocolate flavor. It is just so much better than any other whey protein I’ve tried. It is thick, rich, creamy and dissolves very well. It is a little pricey, but it is SO worth the cost. My second favorite is Premier Protein’s Vanilla Milkshake flavor- it is the best vanilla I’ve tried. It doesn’t have that chemically artificial vanilla flavor that I’ve encountered in a lot of vanilla protein powders. Like always, I buy these on Amazon to get the best prices.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I hope you found at least one treat you’d like to try. If you enjoyed this post, please share it on your social media!
